I've learned that giving is a good investment. The main thing though is that you feel good when you help others.

Ignat Kaneff

Mr. Kaneff

A strong believer in community, Mr. Ignat Kaneff established the I. Kaneff Charitable Foundation in 1986. As an avid contributor to charitable organizations and initiatives across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond, Mr Kaneff’s dedication and continued generosity has supported worthy community causes such as Community Living Mississauga, the Credit Valley Hospital Foundation, University of Toronto, York University, and more.

He made his first major donation in 1955 to a hospital in Toronto. Since then he’s donated land and over $1 million for construction of the St. Dimitar Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Brampton. In 2009,  $2.5 million was donated towards the reconstruction of the Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in Toronto; a building named in his honour. In 2012, Kaneff provided $1.5 million, about half the total amount necessary, for the construction of a modern conference complex, the Kaneff Centre, at Ruse University in Bulgaria. The Kaneff Centre was officially opened in October 2013.

For over 40 years, Mr. Kaneff has organized many fundraisers including his annual golf tournament, which has raised over $1.5 million for Community Living, an organization that supports intellectually challenged children in Peel.
